THELER WETLANDS |
Theler is a gem for so many different reasons! The original intent of Sam Theler in willing the land to the area was for ballfields and recreational facilities. Instead, it's been set aside as a natural wonderland. Theler is a great place for walking, for exploring with the little ones, watching salmon in their natural habitat, and (of course!) photography. There's a nice information center, and classrooms that appear to only be available to government school students. There are bat walks during the summer, hosted by a volunteer naturalist who takes all interested parties throughout the wetlands to teach all about the bats there. There are (mostly free) classes at the Community Center, and art shows featuring some of the best local artisans. Theler is a place you'll want to visit over and over again.Note: no pets allowed, and you're not allowed to leave Fido in your vehicle.Tip: Wear comfortable shoes, bring a camera, and a light jacket. It can be pretty windy. If you only have time for one trail, stay to your right. All of the children favor that one. |
