Aren't first litters supposed to be 3 or 4? That's what we thought! Lucky's pups are adorable -- and expensive. We just can't keep 12 dogs. We'd planned to spay her before this happened, but didn't get around to it. Word of advice: get around to it! :-). I had a heck of a time finding out a place to spay her that wasn't going to charge us an arm and a leg. Here are some spay/neuter resources, and a collection of other animal resources to save you the digging.

PAWS of Bainbridge Island Discounted or free services for North Kitsap/BI residents who are unable to afford them.

PAWS of Bremerton Spay and neuter available for low income families.

Peninsula Spay and Neuter Project Free or discounted services if you are receiving public assistance or meet their income requirements. Free spay/neuter for pitbulls regardless of income.

 

Animal Rescue Families Bremerton. Domestic animals for adoption.

Bangor Subase Vet Clinic The Vet Clinic exists to care for military dogs. AS A SERVICE to the sub community, they provide low-cost vaccinations and will also see your pet on a space-available basis. Please remember that they are providing this care AS A SERVICE, but it is not their primary mission. 360-396-7900.

Hooved Animal Rescue of Thurston County "Connecting hooved animals with people that can help."

Kitsap Humane Society Adoption and licensing.

Kitten Rescue of Mason County Adoption and foster care for kittens (adult cats also available for adoption).

Olympic Veterinary Hospital Silverdale. We use Dr. William Larson. He is fantastic with the animals, gentle, intelligent, doesn't talk down to you, and the animals seem to really respond to him. Across from Silverdale Waterfront Park. They also arrange tours for homeschool groups (or homeschool families). 360-692-1368. Not a low-cost option, but excellent care.

Petco North Kitsap Poulbso, near Central Market. Low cost pet vaccination clinics.

Shelton Animal Shelter Dogs only. Available for adoption, $75 includes spay/neuter, vaccinations. Note: Mason county will only respond to dog calls if the animal is a public nuisance. They don't pick up strays.
