SIX FLAGS MARINE WORLD / AFRICA U.S.A.

The commercials are accurate! Six Flags has taken what was a nice outing and made it into something spectacular! We've loved Marine World from the first visit years ago, but since it has become part of Six Flags, it's become incredible.
Highlights:
Paul speaks:
"The two "don't miss" rides are Roar! and the Dinosaur Adventure. Roar! has a height requirement (48" and enforced). This is a great ride, combining the best of the old-time wood coaster feel with the best of modern thrill rides. Exceptionally well done, and worth the wait! The park designers did a very intelligent thing. Next to the Roar line is a ride for the little ones. So, while Jenna, David and I were waiting in line for Roar, Mom and the wee ones could wait right outside the exit and ride the Wave Jumper (similar to D-land's Dumbo ride, but with Orcas). The second "don't miss" is the Dinosaur Adventure ride. It's a virtual roller coaster, so the smaller children CAN ride and experience the same roller coaster feel without the danger. Plus the dinosaurs look real."

Julie adds: "If you have little ones, make Looney Tunes Seaport your first stop. The rides are well laid out, attractive and definitely age-appropriate. The ride operators are very strict on the 48" and under height requirement, ensuring that the teen and pre-teen crowds avoid it. That makes it considerably more relaxing for those of us with younger children. My kids would have spent the whole day here if I had not insisted we visit the rest of the park. I'm so glad I did. The killer whale show was the definite highlight of the day, for EVERYone. The "enter-trainers" did a superb job and the orca was a real show-off, all playing to the crowd. If you have teens, have them sit in the lower right hand seats -- they'll have a great time being part of the show, and they'll get soaked. The dolphin show was okay, but a little difficult to see.

Other things not to be missed include:

· The Shark Experience. We went through at least a dozen times. Not only for the shark tank, but for the knowledgeable and friendly staff members who gave my children a basic oceanography lesson (priceless, and for no "tuition"). Great to see people who are really interested in marine science working as attraction hosts.
· The Butterfly Habitat. Magnificent! An indoor atrium-type of habitat, with beautifully colored butterflies all about. Very hot and humid, though, so you want to skip it if you have breathing or heart problems. But for most of us, this is a "don't miss".

It's impossible to see everything here in one day, and we will certainly be returning over and over again. (You can also purchase a two-day pass for $10 more than the single admission price.)

Out & About Helpful Hint:
To make room for Roar!, all parking is now in an upper lot. Do yourself a favor and wait for the shuttle. And don't forget to bring food, drinks, and children's supplies (like diapers, wipies, etc). You won't want to go all the way back to your car.

Kid Safety Considerations:
Of course, all the attractions have been safety-tested by experts. There were park personnel everywhere, especially numerous in the Seaport area. That's a good feeling, "just in case."
