Battle Point Astronomical Association The BPAA is a non-profit amateur astronomy organization, located in Bainbridge Island, Washington. We have constructed and operate the Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory in the Helix House at Battle Point Park. Check out the Young Astronomer's program for kids.

Clear Creek Trail - Silverdale. You've probably seen the signs for this driving up Bucklin Hill.  The CCTF offers you a chance for public service, helping to restore the trail.  Or simply download some of the materials at the site, and go on a nature hike.  How many of the flora and fauna can you find?  The interpretive center is open to the public on the first and third Saturdays from 12-4. Elandan Gardens 3050 Highway 16, Gorst, 373-8260. Bonsal displays in Northwest waterfront setting. Classes are held on Sat.and Sun. at Elandan Gardens, they start at 10am and go to 4pm. The instructor is Dan Robinson. The classes include a pot, tree, instruction and a tour of the bonsai garden for a cost of only $75. The class is comprehensive. You will create your own tree understand how to make it survive and own a tree worth more then the class fee.

Hurricane Ridge - Snowshoeing with the rangers (weather permitting through the end of March). Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. $5 per person charge. Parking is $10. Small tubing and sledding area (n/c).

Lake Cushman Dam Hwy 101, Potlatch. Free tours of this awesome structure can be arranged in advance by calling 1-253-502-2471 ext. 8759.

Museum of Flight Worth the trip to Seattle any time, but the first Thursday of the month is free admission from 5pm-9pm. Here's a chance for your future astronaut or aviator to learn everything there is to know about aviation.

Naval Undersea Museum, Keyport Fun and interesting any time, but their Discover E days can't be beat for Engineering fun.

Olympic Game Farm

Pacific Science Center Across the Sound, but well worth the ferry ride! Homeschoolers' discount available. IMAX theater, special exhibits (including a piece of the Titanic coming soon!), interactive displays (Mathmatica and "Bugs!" now available), acres and acres of science fun.

Port Townsend Marine Science Center at Fort Worden.

Remote Control Aircraft Field Every Saturday, the RCA club meets to fly their planes. They love to share information on their hobby, and many will let you take a turn flying with a buddy box. The field is at the end of Sunnyslope Road. Take Hwy 3 just past Gorst, left on SunnySlope (you'll see the nursery), right at the Texaco, ~2 miles to a gravel road on the right. Look for their sign and turn right.

Steel Arch Bridge Hwy 101 at Purdy Creek, up Skokomish River Rd. Shelton, Washington. Originally the county's highest and longest railroad span, now concrete decked and sided, crosses breathtaking Skokomish gorge.
