KITSAP / NORTH MASON CHURCHES

We've lived in a lot of different places during Paul's Navy career. Usually we end up church-shopping for quite awhile before we settle down. We recently have begun going to a great church (CRCC; see below), but realize that one size does not fit all. For whatever reason you may be looking, there is surely a place of worship where you belong.

If you're just looking for a general list, try http://www.worshipquest.org and type in your zip code. Below are churches we've checked out, or know people who attend there. Our comments follow; the comments are our own perspective. Yours, of course, may vary. These are not necessarily recommendations (some are on our "ten foot pole" list!), but information that will hopefully spur you on to find out more about a fellowship where you can grow in Christ.

BELFAIR

Belfair Assembly of God
Scholarly messages delivered with heart. Large church, contemporary worship team, many homeschoolers.

Belfair Community Baptist Church
American Baptist. Theology tends to be somewhat on the liberal side, especially where women are concerned. Half a dozen homeschool families. AWANA, Boy Scouts.

Christ Lutheran Church ELCA
Female pastor, daycare, youth outreach.

House of Prayer
Evangelical minded, contemporary worship, emphasis on the gifts of the Spirit and His workings in the church today.

North Mason Bible Church
Baptist. Outreach to local government schools a priority. AWANA. Large and active Seniors ministry.

North Mason United Methodist Church
Female pastor, theologically closer to Unitarian.

Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church
Theologically middle of the road, lots of activities, traditional mass, community outreach. Boy Scouts.

BREMERTON

Abundant Life Foursquare Church
As a child, my family attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa when it was still small. If you are hungry for a Chuck Smith type of preacher, this is it. Dynamic! Congregation seems to be mostly 25-45, many singles, and multi-cultural. Their worship team is very good, and mixes CCM, gospel, and hymns. A "seeker" church that follows up. A lot of different ministries, programs, and support groups.

Manette Community Church (373-2103)
Homeschool-friendly church of about 150. Congregation largely consists of families.

Our Lady Star of the Sea
Large conservative Catholic congregation. They have their own homeschool group, mostly using Seton.

Peninsula Bible Fellowship
One of the larger churches in the area. Technologically on the cutting edge for churches, community-minded, non-denominational. Very large youth group, host for Women's Bible Study Fellowship.

PORT ORCHARD

Christ the Rock Community Church
Large church, over 40 homeschool families, homeschooling co-op, AWANA. Multi-cultural, wide age range, challenging preaching with passion. A lot of foster parents and adoptive parents. Sat pm church, choir. Affiliated with IFCA. (Sound biased? LOL. This is our church, and we love it!)

Covenant Fellowship (876-0512) Very conservative, smaller fellowship. Family style worship (no Sunday School), many homeschoolers. Meeting at Sidney Glen Elementary, corner of Sidney and Glenwood. Email: office@covenantfellowship.net

South Kitsap Alliance Church (895-1917)
Very conservative. Many homeschoolers. Small, caring congregation. Most of the women dress modestly with many wearing headcoverings.

SILVERDALE

Faith Fellowship
Non-denominational, relaxed, family-focused house of prayer. Many homeschoolers, mostly families.
