Silverdale Waterfront Park
Why we really like this park -- There is such a wide variety of activities. Of course, there is a traditional children's playground, but there is so much more to this. Find the crab indented in the sidewalk. Walk along the shoreline looking for sea glass, interesting rocks, or crabs. Head out to the end of the pier and look for orcas or other sea life. Skip rocks on the sea. Roll down the grassy knolls. Order pizza and have a picnic on the (usually) clean tables. Watch the boats dock. Or just enjoy laying out on a towel in the sun.
Tips: Bring tennis shoes. It's a rock beach and you'll want to protect little toes. Don't park in the boat launch area.
How to get there: Take the Newberry Hill exit off 3. Follow the road around to the lumberyard. Turn right on Byron. The park is on the right. Open dawn-dusk. No charge.
