Out And About:
Children's Discovery Museum

More fun than Disneyland without the long lines! From the first
view of the huge purple building, you know that CDM is going
to be a different experience! This place is AMAZING! Please touch
everything. Nothing here is offlimits to the kids, and they are
encouraged to crawl, jump, touch, turn and crank. It's set up
as a mini city with fire trucks, bank, village, post office and
much too much to list. While CDM is probably geared toward the
4-12 crowd, the younger set is certain to enjoy it as well. Four
hours in the museum and my kids were reluctant to leave! Jenna
said the best part was the bank; tennis balls and cranks and
tunnels are used to illustrate deposits and withdrawals. Elizabeth
liked the waterworks area, while Elisha was fascinated by the
light displays (strobes, waves and tons of other hands-on displays).
David spent a lot of time in the fire truck and ambulance (real
ones), and I loved the huge bubble machines. Admission is $6
adults, $4 kids-- however, they have a non-exclusion policy:
no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Swallow your pride
and pay what you can, even if it's a dollar per child. You don't
want to miss this one.
